What first inspired you to get into your line of work? And what motivates you to do the work you do still today?
I have spent decades working with and within businesses supporting employee benefits. I have met and provided financial and retirement planning education to 1000s of families and supported 100s of company advisory boards in the management and creation of benefits.
A common concern with my own family and friends along with many of the employees I worked with was the fear of health insurance needs and planning. With a formal in economics and a strong background in benefits planning, Mariner Health was created to become an independent resource for the health insurance decision process. I truly appreciate the opportunity to help consumers explore their unique needs and trade-offs. I love helping people and being a valued and trusted resource for my clients.
How did you come to faith in Christ?
I have been an active Christian starting at a young age. The Bible’s teachings have always led me into a deeper exploration of both myself and the populations around me. While in high school, I was active in sports and a good student, but I also was very active in my church youth group. I taught Sunday school for several years in high school and routinely performed in our church’s plays.
The good word has always been the spine of my daily life with friends, family, associates or clients. Spreading and living in faith is and has always been an extremely important thing for me.
How does your faith impact the way you do business?
I think this is very important. Ultimately, I believe in doing what is right for the customer and I believe my faith guides that core value. I also enjoy supporting people regardless of their circumstances or background. I want what is best for the families and I support my clients essentially as extended family.
What ministry/cause do you champion and why?
I am routinely volunteering at local food banks and pantries. I also support and participate in work with my local church including Sleep in Heavenly Peace (SHP) and Matthew 25 Ministries.
