Thrive Fitness Plus is a whole-person fitness community in Alexandria, Kentucky—guiding people toward sustainable strength, deep healing, and purpose that endures. We believe transformation happens through the body, mind, and spirit working together.
Our approach is called Thrive Custom Coaching—a personalized blend of strength training, mobility work, and relational support tailored to each person’s goals, health history, and season of life. We also offer massage therapy, nutrition coaching, and transformational coaching to help people live in balance and wholeness.
At Thrive, we hold space for both progress and restoration. We believe real strength isn’t just about what you lift—it’s about what you lay down. Everything we do flows from our mission: to reshape lives to thrive.
What first inspired you to get into your line of work? And what motivates you to do the work you do still today?
For about ten years, I worked out at a small gym here in Alexandria. Out of nowhere, the owner announced he was closing the business for good. He was walking through a difficult season and just couldn’t keep it going.
I asked my son, Jered, if he might want to talk with the owner about becoming a personal trainer and possibly reopening the space. He said yes. Honestly, I kept waiting for the red flags that would tell me it wasn’t meant to be—but they never came. So we reopened the gym under a new name: Thrive Fitness Plus.
At first, I planned to stay in the background—help Jered get things started, pay the bills, handle logistics, and let him lead the front end. But after the first year, when we faced some hard financial losses, I realized I couldn’t stay quiet. I was being challenged to step up—to lead more actively, to cast vision, and to bring the coaching heart that had shaped my career into the DNA of Thrive.
2025 has been a year of stepping forward—learning to lead from purpose, not ego. I still love working with my coaching clients, but I also feel deeply called to craft this business into something special: a place where people experience strength, healing, and community in a way that reflects the Father’s heart. Looking back, I can see how He’s been gently steering the story all along.
How did you come to faith in Christ?
I was raised in a Christian home where faith was just part of life. My parents hosted small groups in our house when I was a toddler, so from an early age I saw people praying, worshiping, and studying together.
Over the years, my walk with God has had seasons of closeness and seasons of rebellion—some subtle, some not so subtle. There have been times when I yearned to live as a disciple of Christ, and others when I mostly ignored Him. For a long stretch, I was waiting for a burning-bush moment without letting the dross burn off my own heart and mind.
One of the most defining turning points came in my early twenties. After a couple of years of drifting, I found myself one Wednesday night sitting in the back row at a Vineyard Church service in Springdale. The whole night was mostly music. As I listened, I became overwhelmed by the realization that my Father’s love had never let go—not even once. Each song seemed to peel back another layer of His patience and pursuit. That night, I surrendered again. It remains one of the clearest and most powerful moments of my life—when love won me back.
How does your faith impact the way you do business?
For me, faith isn’t something that stays in a Sunday box. It’s the lens through which I try to see people and make decisions every day. I believe work becomes sacred when it’s done with love, integrity, and purpose—whether you’re coaching someone through a workout or helping them rebuild confidence after a hard season.
At Thrive Fitness Plus, our culture flows directly from that faith. Our Core Values describe how we live it out: we Pursue Excellence with humility and heart, Collaborate with trust and honesty, Embrace Change when growth requires movement, and Fail Forward by giving grace and learning fast. We Build Up Others through encouragement and belonging, Keep It Real with truth and care, Live Healthy in body, mind, and spirit, and Be Lean and Effective so every effort has purpose.
To me, leadership is just another form of discipleship. It’s not about control—it’s about serving, guiding, and helping others grow into who they were created to be. My faith reminds me daily that success isn’t measured by numbers or noise; it’s measured by lives changed and hearts restored.
What ministry/cause do you champion and why?
At the heart of Thrive Fitness Plus, our cause is transformation—helping people live whole in body, mind, and spirit. We believe real change doesn’t just happen in church pews or counseling rooms; it happens in everyday spaces where people feel safe, challenged, and loved.
Our mission is simple: We reshape lives to thrive. For us, that means guiding people toward sustainable strength, deep healing, and purpose that endures. Whether someone comes in for custom coaching, massage, or transformational coaching, they’re met with care that sees beyond the surface.
Sometimes people begin with physical health or strength, and as their bodies grow stronger, they become more open to the deeper and more difficult work of heart and mind transformation. That’s the beauty of whole-person wellness—it starts where people are and leads them toward who they were created to be.
What drives me most is seeing people come alive to that reality—walking in the fullness of the identity and purpose God already placed within them. When people rediscover their God-given design, everything around them begins to change. Homes get stronger. Workplaces get healthier. Hope multiplies.
At Thrive, that’s the ministry we champion every day—one life at a time, learning to live whole and walk free.
